Similarly to Kajabi, Teachable also offers almost the same course creation and membership capabilities. You can also create and sell courses and ebooks and provide coaching services. However, the platform is not considered all-in-one as it misses a few features like automation, funnel builder, email sequence, etc.

Things Where Kajabi Stands Out 

• Kajabi is an all-in-one platform that comes with all the essential features you need to run a business — you don’t need any third-party applications or integrations.
• Kajabi comes with its own marketplaces like Skillshare and Udemy. On the other hand, Teachable doesn’t have any marketplaces.
• Kajabi stands apart from Teachable by offering flexible tools like communities, assessments, and assignments. However, Teachable does have a comment feature. Still, Kajabi is superior in this section.
• Kajabi doesn’t charge any transaction fee.
• Kajabi’s website builder offers many customization options, whereas Teachable’s design editor has very limited customizations unless you go with its Power Editor. 
• Kajabi powers your content with various lecture-specific automation. But, Teachable doesn’t offer such automation.

Both platforms are designed to provide a rich user experience and ease of use. Even a beginner can quickly start with the tools to create courses and sell them online. Let’s compare both platforms’ interfaces.

Kajabi

Kajabi’s interface is flexible and intuitive. On the dashboard, you will find a sidebar from where you can access all the Kajabi features. There are five main menus in the sidebar that cover the entire Kajabi’s procedures: Website, Products, Marketing, Setting, and People. If you face any issues regarding course creation or enrolling students, you can find the Help option that will solve your basic queries.

Teachable

The dashboard of Teachable has the same similarities as Kajabi. It also offers a sidebar that lets you explore all the features on the go. Here you will also find menus like Sites, Users, Emails, Sales, Settings, etc.

Teachable doesn’t have a search module like Kajabi Assistant that lets you find and access all the features. However, the UX of Teachable is more accessible, whereas Kajabi’s few features require assistance in order to find them.

Verdict: Both platforms are very similar in terms of the user interface. Kajabi’s UX seems more complex without its assistance.

Course Creation Module

Having a user-friendly course creation module should be a prime criterion before choosing a platform. Luckily, Kajabi and Teachable allow you to add lectures, videos, and quizzes with their course creation module. The course appears as an online syllabus to the students making it easy to access and follow. Let’s look at other differences.

Kajabi

Kajabi offers a simple and easy-to-use dashboard that lets you create courses without any coding experience. With Kajabi, you can create three types of courses – online courses, mini-course, and drip content like evergreen training. 

The module section in Kajabi is known as Category. You can add subcategories to every category you create. You can add multiple posts/content inside those subcategories. These categories are very similar to WordPress.

While creating content, you get two options to choose two formats – add assessments (like quizzes) or embed videos. In the body section, you can add course details, resources, and downloadable files for the lectures you create. This module also offers a few automation options that enable you to attach various action-based automation for students’ progress.

Teachable

On the other hand, Teachable requires you to add a few details before filling in the curriculum. Then, you can create sections and add lectures inside each section. After adding the lectures, you can easily lay out the structure of the course for students.

While creating a lecture, you can add any type of content you want, such as videos, files, quizzes, texts, etc. You can add titles, subtitles, and the author’s name to each course.

Verdict: Overall, both platforms showed their best class in course creation. Teachable is best at course compliance, coupons, and certificates, while Kajabi offers better automation.

Membership Creation 

Both platforms offer you a membership module that lets you create packages and subscription models so you can build a recurring income stream.

Kajabi

Kajabi offers a separate module for membership creation that you can find in the Products section. For each membership plan, you need to create separate products. However, the membership area has the same options as the Online Course section, which makes no sense.

You can also create a bundle offer for your courses and fix a discounted rate so more students will be able to enroll. Apart from their name, “membership,” features and structure are the same as course creation. 

Teachable

Teachable doesn’t have a separate membership module. However, you can create a course bundle or subscription and fix a discounted price to make it look like a membership.

You can also create multiple course bundles along with subscriptions and sort your pricing according to bundles. 

Verdict: Kajabi offers a membership module, but it is very similar to its course creation module, whereas Teachable doesn’t have a membership module, but it lets you create bundles and subscriptions. So this round is more likely equal.

Once you click on the Site Customization option, you will find various options such as domains, pages, navigation, bios, code snippets, custom text, etc. The available features cover almost all aspects you need to design a professional-looking website.

The custom text feature allows you to alter the text wherever you want. Kajabi lacks this feature. Like Kajabi, Teachable also offers a Power Editor that quickly enables you to make customization your website.

On the other hand, the course-level customization options of Teachable come in handy for editing product pages, sales pages, and checkout pages.

Verdict: Teachable has a powerful editor, but you need coding knowledge in order to unlock its full capabilities. Kajabi’s editor is beginner-friendly. It also offers many customizable themes to make your page visually stunning.

Analytics & Reporting

Analytics and weekly reports are two critical aspects of a course-creation platform. 

Kajabi

Kajabi offers a simple yet effective analytics section where you can view total plays, average engagement, play rate, and a visual graph of how often your members consume your content. 

If you explore more of the analytics section, you will find options like sales, marketing, and affiliate reports. You can connect your website with Google Analytics to track conversion and traffic if you don’t want to use the in-built analysis tools.

Teachable

Teachable, on the other hand, offers way more powerful reporting and analytics modules. Check out the reports section inside the dashboard to find different options such as quiz scores, video stats, engagement rate, completion rate, leaderboards, etc.

The completion rate feature of Teachable breaks down all your students on different parameters such as free students, paid students, members, etc. You can also check the individual profile of your students.

Talking about its analytics section, you will find data on transactions, upsells, statements, reserves, etc. Like Kajabi, you can also connect your website to Google Analytics.

Verdict: Both platforms feature a robust analytics and reporting section. However, Teachable stands out in a few metrics.

Integrations

Kajabi offers many built-in integrations, which include many major apps and software. Some of the integrations are Google Analytics, ConvertKit, MailChimp, Google Analytics, ClickFunnels, AWeber, Drip, etc. You can access all these integrations inside the settings.

It also offers Zapier integration that helps you find thousands of third-party applications for integration.

Teachable

Like Kajabi, you can also find the integrations section under the settings. Inside this section, you can find many built-in integrations such as MailChimp, Google Analytics, ConvertKit, Segment, and many email marketing integration apps. It also offers Webhook and Zapier integration for additional access to third-party applications.

Teachable’s Webhook (also known as HTTP push API) function is one of the unique integrations. It collects and provides real-time data of other applications. Unlike other APIs, you don’t need to poll for data frequently to get real-time stats.

Verdict: Third-party integrations come in handy in integrating region-specific payment gateways. And both support Zapier integration.

The repository contains knowledgeable documents and articles regarding common queries. You will get a hoard of information related to selling courses, billing, integrations, customizations, student guidelines, etc. However, email responses and live chat aren’t available 24/7.

Verdict: Kajabi undoubtedly offers better and more professional customer service through their help center.

While choosing a platform for online course creation, it is crucial to have marketing features inside the platform in order to increase conversion and sales. Luckily, both platforms offer a variety of reliable marketing tools. Let’s compare who offers the best for customers.

Email Marketing

Kajabi offers a separate module for email marketing. It contains integrations and various options that help you create email campaigns. You can also put in a sequence to send drip campaigns to your members without much effort. 

You can add multiple actions to the emails. The action feature triggers as soon as it is opened by the user. You can also create forms and embed your Kajabi website. Within your Kajabi website, you can also schedule webinars or events.

On the other hand, Teachable offers a basic and straightforward email marketing module. You can access the email marketing section directly from the Teachable dashboard. Compose emails or create email campaigns from that section. There are many filters available for members and enrolled students so you can send the emails to your desired audience.

Upselling

With Kajabi, you can create an upsell offer to increase your recurring income. You can find the upsell feature under the Products section. You can add your offer along with the course you want to feature with upselling. 

Teachable offers a one-click upselling feature. You can trigger the upselling feature from the Thank You Page. The offer will appear as soon as students complete the payment. You need to add the course and the offer price while creating the upsell you want to be pitched. The platform uses the previous card details of the users to complete the checkout.

Funnels

Unfortunately, Teachable doesn’t have a funnel or visual pipeline builder. But, Kajabi has.

Kajabi comes with a visual pipeline builder that you can find under the Marketing section. You can go with a readymade pipeline or choose a blank funnel to create a new one.

While creating a funnel, you need to add your popular course as the primary objective. With one click, Kajabi will create various pages for the funnel automatically, and it will also redirect you to the funnel builder with your workflow in one place. 

You can customize your funnels within the page builder. Here you can customize buttons and preview your funnel in real-time. The best part is that Kajabi doesn’t need separate landing page builders to create beautiful funnels. It is included along with the other features.

Automation

Kajabi comes with a few exceptional automation functionalities and features. You can easily trigger automation with your email campaigns, forms, and offers. The automation features record your visitors’ actions and behaviors so you can take necessary actions to make sure they don’t bounce off.

As per my experience with Teachable, it doesn’t offer many automation features. Luckily, it integrates with Zapier and webhooks, which makes it easier to add automation to improve your workflow.
