Anton Osika studied physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He worked at CERN, then joined Sana Labs as its first engineer. After that, he co-founded Depict.ai (Y Combinator-backed, raised $20 million).

In June 2023, Osika built GPT Engineer as a weekend side project. It became one of the fastest-growing repos in GitHub history.

Osika and Fabian Hedin co-founded the company in November 2023. The commercial product launched as GPT Engineer App, then was renamed to Lovable in December 2024.

Lovable has nearly 8 million users according to the latest data available. CEO Anton Osika confirmed these numbers to TechCrunch in November 2025. 

Earlier that year (in July 2025), the platform had 2.3 million active users and 180,000 paying subscribers. This is a huge jump of 5.7 million in just 5 months.
