Safari is the second most used web browser globally, as 1 out of 5 people worldwide use it. Safari, being Apple Inc.’s baby, is the most popular browser among Apple users.

The browser displayed a decrease of over 1.3% in its market share compared to 2023, when the browser’s market share owned by the Safari browser was recorded to be 19.9%.

Microsoft Edge was the primary browser used by internet users globally until Google Chrome was launched in 2008.

The market share of Microsoft Edge grew from 4.12% in 2022 to 4.96% in 2024.

Firefox owns 2.26% of the browser market share

With more than 362 million users, Firefox is the fourth most popular browser worldwide.

The browser is heavily used in America and Russia for approximately 6 to 5.5 hours daily. 

Firefox’s market share increased from 3.04% in 2022 to 3.36% in 2024.

People prefer a seamless integration when it comes to browsers.  Many people worldwide don’t have a hybrid ecosystem, but Chrome fits it well, making it more accessible to all devices. 

On the other hand, people who are deep into the Apple ecosystem are the ones who will go for a safari, but the majority will go for Chrome.

Google Chrome rules the Desktop Browser Market Share with 65.25% of the market share

Chrome has dominated the desktop browser market share over the past few years. However, a drop was recorded in its usage in June 2023. Its market share reached 65.25%.

Edge is the second most preferred desktop browser, with 13.55% of the market share. This was a takeover from Safari, previously ranked as the second go-to desktop browser for users.

Chrome owns 50.57% of the tablet browser market share, beating Safari compared to 2023.

Safari, being a dominant browser previously, has now dropped to 33.37% browser share.

Chrome rules mobile browser market share as well. Over 6 in 10 mobile users use Google Chrome to browse the internet. 

On the other hand, Safari owns 22.96% of the Mobile market share worldwide. 

Surprisingly, the Samsung Internet browser stands third and owns 3.62% of the market share. 

Other mobile browsers that have gained popularity over the past few years are Opera (1.64%), UC browser (1.37%), and Android(0.51%).

The usage of Browsers differs from country to country and region to region. Still, Chrome tops the list here too. However, the Safari managed to steal some share of the spotlight from Chrome at some places.

United States Browser Share is Dominated With Chrome With 57.45% market Share

Google Chrome holds 57.45% of the browser market share in the United States. 

Meanwhile, 29.27% of the browser market share in the country belongs to Safari. Calculating the numbers, 3 in 10 people in the United States use the Safari browser.

Microsoft Edge also has noticeable users in the United States. The browser owns 6.65% of the market share in the United States.

Nearly two-thirds of the internet users in the United Kingdom use Chrome browser

Beating Safari yet again, Chrome stands as the most used browser in the United Kingdom with 48.87% global share.

Safari stands 2nd preferred browser with 32.93% market share.

The third go-to browser is Microsoft Edge, owning 9.3% of the browser market share in the United Kingdom.

Other browsers that made it to the top 6 in the United Kingdom are Samsung Internet, Firefox, and Opera, with a market share of 3.84%, 2.39%, and 1.4%., respectively.

Google Chrome has a market share of 46.89% in the Chinese browser market

Chrome dominates the Chinese browser market with 46.89% market share, followed by Safari at 14.93%.

Microsoft Edge came in third with a market share of 12.91%. 

Chinese browser users cited using Chrome as it is simpler and faster than other browsers.

Chrome vs Safari (Battle Of Two Top Players)

Chrome owns the highest browser market share in the South American region, with a 78.95% market share. At the same time, Safari owns 11.83% of the browser market share in the region. 

Furthermore, Google Chrome has a 75.77% market share of browsers in Africa. The second most preferred browser in the region is Safari browser, with a market share of 9.66%.  

On the other hand, Chrome owns just 56.75% of the browser market share in the North American region. It is the lowest compared to the shares owned by Chrome in different regions of the world.
