How To Sign Up For Shopify Starter Plan (Guide)

Let me show you how to start your Shopify journey. Follow the steps explained below to become a new merchant on Shopify. 

Step 1: Click on the exclusive Shopify 3-month trial link. Then, enter your email address and click “Start free trial”

Step 2: Answer a few questions about you as an entrepreneur and about your website. If you wish, you can skip a question, or all of them, from the button on the bottom right.  

Step 3: Select the location where your business is located.  

Step 4: Select the method for creating a Shopify account. 

Step 5: Upon entering account details, you will have successfully created your Shopify store. Next, select the “pick a plan” button from the right.

Step 6: After clicking, scroll towards the middle and select the “Starter Plan”.

Step 7: Select a payment method and fill in the payment details. Read the terms and conditions, verify your payment cycle, and click “subscribe” to make a payment. 

Once the payment is processed, you will have access to the Shopify Starter Plan. 

How To Create Your Linkpop Landing Page?

In order to use the Starter plan to sell your products through your social media account, you will need to create Linkpop’s shoppable link. When one of your followers clicks on the link, it redirects them directly to the product catalog. Here, they can simply add products to the cart and complete their payment to purchase your products. 

Here’s how you can create your Linkpop landing page and shoppable link:

Step 1. Visit the official Linkpop website and click on the “Sign In” option from the top right corner. It will redirect to the Shopify login page.

Step 2. Since you have already created your Shopify account, choose your email address 

Step 3. Next, you will need to create your Linkpop profile by adding:

• Profile Page URL: You can create a URL that will lead to your Linkpop landing page. Set it carefully as it can’t be changed later.
• Profile Photo: Add your profile photo, which is going to appear on your profile. 
• Profile Name: Enter your name (You can also use the profile name that you use on your social media profiles)
• Profile Description: Add your profile description or merchandise description. 

After adding the necessary details, click “Create Profile”. 

Step 4. Next, create your product page by adding a product link, image, affiliate link and Amazon link (if any). Once it is done, click “Publish”. 

Step 5. After adding the product, you can customize the page, layout and colors. There won’t be many options as your online store but it will be good enough for people to shop.

Step 6. Finally, copy your link and add it to your social media profiles and it will appear under your profile.

Shopify Starter Plan Review: My Experience

After reviewing the Shopify Starter plan and its features, I noticed how affordable it is for a beginner. Without much stress about the investment, you can focus more on making your brand accessible across your social media network.

Given the Linkpop integration, you can create a page for your brand and monetize your social media reach to sell directly! For someone like me who does not have much technical skills, the customization options within helped a lot.

However, I would have liked the transaction fees to be a bit less. That is one thing that I would like to get reduced from 5%.

For a test store we opened, I could not break even the amount I invested as early as I thought we could, even after using Shopify Payments.
